Edwin Hind / Concrete and Green | Deptford X Fringe 2016
Sound Artist Edwin Hind (founder member of sound art movement Concrete and Green) curates his interpretation of musique concrète. He will perform from behind a veil pulling from his archive of recorded urban and rural sounds interwoven with acoustic guitar, live vocals and spoken word.
“Such music is also called “concrete” because it is recorded directly onto a medium, as a “sono-fixation” (Michel Chion), in the same way as a visual image is recorded on a canvas, film or tape.” (Leonardo Journal Vol. 34, 2001).
Bio: Edwin Hind is a composer, instrumentalist, sound-artist, currently studying at University of Arts London. He has been involved in the music industry as a signed / published artist (1981-2001) most well-known as part of Anglo-German duo Picnic at the Whitehouse, part of the emerging Berlin underground techno scene (1985-1990).
